Steep Hill Lab is proud to be offering Medical Cannabis safety screening and potency monitoring testing to the California Medical Cannabis Community. We have assembled a team of experts, ranging across many disciplines. Our team consists of doctors, scientists, Cannabis consultants, patients, and legal experts. We are committed to patient safety and furthering public awareness to all consumers to have access to the most relevant information and the safest Medical Cannabis available.
Steep Hill Lab currently offers a three cannabinoid potency analysis, as well as mold and bacterial screening to the Medical Cannabis Community. The lab is developing pesticide screening methodology targeting the compounds most frequently used by Cannabis growers. This service will become available to the public in May 2010.
Steep Hill Lab is currently working with municipalities to help develop regulations that are appropriate for the Medical Cannabis Industry, while also addressing public health concerns. Steep Hill is working with Mendocino County to develop a third party inspection program to assist in overseeing larger collective cooperative grows, helping guide the industry toward fulfilling California Attorney General Jerry Brown’s vision of a closed loop, plant to patient distribution model.
California’s Medical Cannabis Industry is currently deemed illegal by the Federal Government. The only Federal Regulatory Framework that exists is the Controlled Substances Act, which is currently enforced by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Cannabis is currently classified as a schedule I substance, and therefore one that has “no currently medically accepted use in the United States.”
Regardless of Federal classification, the fact that California has a flourishing, State approved Medical Cannabis Industry necessitates the need for safety screening. Steep Hill is leading the way in asserting the patient’s basic right to consume safe clean cannabis, and to know which active ingredients are present, and to what degree.
